Training in Canada

I was assigned Waynes redtop driver in Canada 2001. When I first met him being the diciplined infantry solider I ensured I always adressed him as "staff" as he was SSGT at the time. within days he had me calling him Cucky and the laughs began. I have a quite a few stories of my six weeks with Cucky but the best one has to be how I threw his new digital camera away. After a day on the prarie I cleared out our land rover as I usually did, throwing away the the brown paper bag from the centre consol that contained the disgusting packed lunches given to us. The next day Cucky asks "did you get my camera out the wagon last night mate?" I told him no and asked where he had left it, to which he replied "I left in the brown horror bag to keep the dust off it" Well his face was a picture when I told him it was in the bin. I cursed him for leaving it in a stupid place and he cursed me for not checking the bag before I threw it out. The next thing both of us were wading through a huge skip, laughing our tits off and cursing each other looking for the camera. We never found it and I reluctantly went half each with him to replace it. It was doing a random internet search 11 years later I have learned of his tragic death. I had an amazing time with Wayne and will never forget him. Jim Bushell (ex Private 1 Royal Anglian Reg)
